This document proposes changing the third grade schedule to increase instructional time and student achievement. The new schedule would have two teacher teams, with one teacher focusing on ELA/Reading and Science and the other on Math and Social Studies. It would consolidate the day into two longer instructional blocks instead of many shorter periods. This is aimed to reduce transitional time and discipline issues while allowing more in-depth lessons. The schedule aims to address obstacles like condensed lessons and student struggles with transitions under the current model.
