1. To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Madison Turner and I would like the opportunity to be considered for the
counseling position at your facility. I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2011 with
a B.A. in Psychology and minor in education and from The University of Memphis in 2015 with
a M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Additionally, I am a commissioned officer in the
United States Army Reserves with a job title of Health Care Administrator for a forward surgical
unit.
My ideal counseling job would involve working with the military population, Post-Traumatic
Stress Disorder, crisis intervention and other co-occurring disorders. While completing my
master’s degree, I had the opportunity to intern at various facilities and work with different
populations ranging from children and adolescents with behavioral disorders and addictions to
adult patients with schizophrenia and mood disorders. Typically, I take a cognitive behavior
approach when working with clients, but I also like to incorporate techniques from dialectic
behavior and gestalt therapies when appropriate.
I am a very energetic, organized and dedicated worker. I have held multiple leadership
positions which have given me the skills to operate both independently and part of a team. In
previous jobs, I have worked as an office administrator, camp counselor, and preschool teacher.
Each of these positions has given me skills to prepare me for many situations. Each job has
developed my multi-tasking, computer, and communication skills among others.
For your convenience I have attached a copy of my resume for your viewing. Professional
and personal references are listed at the bottom. I sincerely thank you for your consideration and
look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Madison Turner
