- 2. What is Zinio? Zinio is a free magazine service from the library. If you haven't used Zinio before or if you have a personal Zinio account but want to use the Library's access, you'll need to create an account using your library card. Note: You MUST setup your accounts using a computer. Later we will show you how to install and setup a Zinio Reader App.
- 3. Getting Started Go to Hot Topic Zinio eMagazines at http://hottopics.lvccld.org/zinio 1. Select the Getting Started tab 2. Select the LVCCLD Zinio link found in STEP 1 box and log in with your Library card number and PIN to access the librarys collection of magazines.
- 4. Step 1 Library Zinio Account Click on the Create Account button in the upper right corner of the screen. Enter in the information requested. Note: for users with a Zinio.com account already use the same email address and password. Any magazines you purchased will also appear with the Library's Magazines in your Zinio.com account (Zinio Reader Account) Congratulations you just created your Library Zinio Account.
- 5. IMPORTANT Always use the Zinio eMagazine link located in the Quick Links box on the Library Website http://lvccld.org to choose your magazines. You will then be able to download the titles you have chosen when you open up the Zinio app. If you just search for titles within the app itself you will NOT see the magazines that the library offers to you for free!
- 6. Step 2 Checkout Note: in the upper right corner you should see Welcome, Your First name. If you do not see your first name you are not yet logged so click on Login 1. Select a magazine to checkout 2. Checkout by either clicking the checkout logo or click the cover and click Checkout
- 7. Now you will see the screen on the left, which is your Zinio Reader for reading magazines online. You can click on Start Reading (PC/Mac Streaming) and the magazine will open on your computer. If you want to read on your mobile device, go to your Zinio app and sign in. Learn how to get and install the app on the next slides.
- 8. MOBILE DEVICES Do you want to use a tablet to read your magazines or read offline on a laptop? This comes in handy when reading on an airplane! STEP 3 will guide you how to install the free app on your mobile device. NOTE: Kindle HD/HDX users skip the next slide and go to ONLY FOR KINDLE HD/HDX USERS slide.
- 9. Step 3 Install Zinio App for mobile devices 1. Mobile Device users go to your app store 2. Search for Zinio Magazines 3. Click Install 4. Click Open, when it is finished installing 5. Click Login 6. Select Country, State & Library 7. Enter email and password created in STEP 1 To check out additional magazines from your library toggle back in your browser to your library collection page all check outs are completed in a browser the Apps are for READING ONLY.
- 10. Reading in the Zinio App Once logged in your magazine should appear in the app. If you dont see your magazine follow these steps: 1. Click the gear in the upper left corner to open Settings 2. Click Sync Library 3. Close the menu (tap in the black space) 4. Tap the magazine to begin the downloading Make sure the magazine is fully downloaded before turning off WiFi or getting on a plane! View the progress of the download by: 1. Tap the magazine cover 2. Look at the top-middle next to the date to see the download progress.
- 11. ONLY KINDLE HD/HDX USERS Use the link at the bottom of Library Zinio page to get the Kindle HD/HDX app Install app for Kindle HD/HDX 1. You will be Prompted to choose ES Downloader or Silk Browser. Selected ES Downloader. 2. Download progress windows pops up, once the download completes, chose Open folder. 3. Selected latest download of the apk, select Install 4. A prompt will appear with Install options, select Install 5. After that finishes installing, you will be prompted for a log in To check out additional magazines from your library toggle back in your browser to your library collection page all check outs are completed in a browser the Apps are for READING ONLY.
