Due to the exceptional growth of Maina Imports Ltd and an even more focused understanding of our customers, Maina Couriers Ltd was formed in 2004. With this addition Maina were now able to offer a complete one stop solution offering International express deliveries for smaller parcels worldwide. The Maina Group of Companies now has two bonded warehouses with a branch office in Leicester. In addition to this there are also offices in India, Kenya, Uganda and the UAE. For more urgent consignments, normally over 30 kilos, airfreight is an excellent option. The charges for the delivery of your goods are dependent upon the weight and size of your shipment. There are normally two types of freight services used which are door to door and airport to airport. Over the years Maina Freight have established long term relationships with industry partners and are firmly positioned to negotiate the best possible rates on your behalf. - 6. Seafreight is the most cost-effective way of sending large volumes of goods internationally. Delivery times may vary between 3-5 weeks depending on the port of destination. Up until recently, there was little visibility of seafreight services in the UK and the industry was typically associated with larger export consignments. Now this service is also being used for smaller movements, providing a cost effective solution. FCLS can both be loaded from our address or directly from the shippers premises. Planning ahead is the key as seafreight delivery times are naturally longer than other modes of transport. The total weight which can be loaded into any container is 22 tonne as per UK RHA regulations. It is important to package your goods correctly to minimise the risk of damage in transit. We are able to offer packing, crating and palletisation services to help with this. In a 20ft container you can fit one saloon car or one 4 X 4 vehicle. In a 40ft/40ft HQ container you can fit 3 saloon cars or two 4 X 4 vehicles. Once loaded there will still be additional space for any loose items you may wish to load. The most common way of sending goods via seafreight is through the use of containers which come in three different sizes: > FCL (Full Container Load) The customer benefits from having the whole container > LCL (Less Container Load) A more cost effective solution where a customer can use part of a container > Reefer Containers A refrigerated container for temperature sensitive cargo > RORO (Roll On Roll Off) This service is used for out of gauge cargo i.e. buses, trucks and large machine spares which are rolled on and off the ship. These items are usually unable to fit into a container.
