Rachel Hynes' senior project involved retraining a racehorse to be a well-rounded riding horse that is safe, versatile, and reliable. Through the process, Rachel learned patience, dedication, and had to overcome financial demands, time constraints, training obstacles, and challenges requiring selflessness. The project resulted in an overall healthier horse suitable for multiple riding disciplines.
This document discusses techniques for processing big data streams. It begins with an overview of various data stream processing systems and techniques such as complex event processing, machine learning, and incremental computation. It then discusses research topics including Falcon, an in-database stream analytics system, window operators accelerated by FPGAs, and privacy-preserving stream data processing. Specific techniques covered in more detail include a multiple query optimization scheme for change point detection on Falcon, a novel architecture for a merging network to accelerate handshake joins, and a wire-speed implementation of a sliding-window aggregate operator over out-of-order data streams.
Elements are pure substances made of only one type of atom. Compounds contain two or more types of atoms chemically bonded together in a fixed ratio. Mixtures are physical combinations of elements and/or compounds not chemically bonded in a fixed ratio. Particles in elements are all the same type of atom. Particles in compounds have a set ratio of different atom types. Particles in mixtures retain their own identities when blended together.
Steph Skardal from End Point Corporation presented on integrating the Annotator tool with H20, an open source digital legal casebook platform developed by Harvard's Berkman Center. H20 currently has home-grown annotation functionality, but it has poor performance, versioning issues, and usability problems. Annotator could improve annotation usability and support versioned annotations. It may also enable multi-media annotations in the future. The project aims to deploy Annotator alongside H20 in May after upgrading H20's backend to improve compatibility and performance.
Putting the wow into your school's wom, NYSAIS PresentationRick Newberry
?
This presentation was presented at the NYSAIS Conference at Mohonk Mountain House in April 2014. During this presentation, I discuss a primer on word of mouth marketing, eight drivers of word of mouth, 15 strategies to implement at your school, example word of mouth marketing campaigns and a review of the top NYSAIS websites that tell their school's story online.
The film tells the story of con artists Irving Rosenfeld and Sydney Prosser who are forced to work with an unpredictable FBI agent Richie DiMaso. Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner, the 138-minute film was financially successful with a worldwide box office total of $248.9 million, though it received an age rating of 15 for violence and language.

The document provides instructions and assignments for a science class, including materials needed, tests and assignments to complete, due dates, and topics that will be covered such as the Bohr model, electron configuration, valence electrons, drawing Bohr models and Lewis dot diagrams. Students are given examples and review questions to complete for each topic. The document outlines the coursework and assessments for the science unit on atomic structure and the periodic table.
This document discusses how success does not necessarily require a college education. It provides examples of successful people like Abraham Lincoln, Henry Ford, Albert Einstein, and several Indonesian business founders who achieved wealth and success without college degrees. It notes that soft skills like character are more important than hard skills or intelligence for success, and that learning can occur outside of college from life experiences and other people. The document advocates working hard from an early age and starting at entry-level positions to work one's way up as paths to achieving success without higher education.
IM Club: Is our website working? What to measureRather Inventive
?
The document summarizes an IM Club meeting about measuring website performance. The meeting covered why it's important to measure website metrics, common analytics tools like Google Analytics, key metrics to track like visits, pages per visit and bounce rate. Participants then discussed the top 3 things they would measure to test their website and actions they would take to improve their site in the next 30 days. The next meeting topics were also reviewed.
The document discusses the future of identity and security management as the number of connected devices increases dramatically. It notes that by 2020 there will be many more devices than can currently be predicted, across all industries. This will redefine concepts of identity and trust between people and devices. New security requirements will emerge to handle the massive scale of authentication, authorization, and dynamic user volumes across devices, appliances, and sensors. Oracle's identity management platform aims to provide a single solution to address these new challenges as the Internet of Things continues to grow.
RowSets provide scrollability and updatability for result sets from databases and drivers that do not support those features natively. There are three main types of RowSets: CachedRowSets cache data in memory for disconnected use, JdbcRowSets are thin wrappers around ResultSets that maintain a connection, and WebRowSets use HTTP to communicate with a servlet for data access. RowSets allow components like GUIs to be notified of data changes through their JavaBeans properties and listeners.
The document outlines recommendations from various groups on empowering women in the context of land and agricultural investments in Africa. Farmer organizations and cooperatives recommended collective action to strengthen women's voices, engage leaders for cultural change, and build women's leadership. NGOs recommended promoting dialogue with governments, giving women a voice through media, pushing for laws addressing all women, and building alliances. International NGOs supported strengthening rural women's movements, advocacy, and making the effects of gender discrimination visible. Collective actions proposed a pan-African rural women's movement and strengthening women's leadership. Dialogues were recommended to address gender issues and influence processes like CAADP and AU-LPI.
This document provides information on the characters in the French film "The Class". It lists the main cast members and the characters they portray, including G¨¦rard Jugnot as Cl¨¦ment Mathieu, the new supervisor of a troubled boys' boarding school in 1949 France. Francois Berl¨¦and plays the role of Rachin, the egotistical principal who runs the school with a strict "action-reaction" disciplinary approach. The summary then provides context on the school setting and introduces Mathieu as challenging the principal's policies upon his arrival, causing tensions.
Sale water park would provide suitable locations for filming scenes by a lake and with few people around. It has a lake for a scene of an actor feeding bread to ducks and would be quiet during filming times. Heaton Park is also close and large, offering many pathway options for shooting. Monton Florists could work well for exterior filming due to its nice area, lack of busyness, and proximity to college. Permission would need to be obtained to film outside the shop for a scene requiring it in the background.
This document discusses the paradigm shift in direct marketing over the last decade. Key points of the shift include new channels like social media, changing consumer behaviors with less trust and time, and more competition. Direct marketers now need to focus on customized products, engage in conversations with consumers through various digital channels, and create brand experiences that encourage word-of-mouth. Technology plays a big role in enabling rapid response, optimization of campaigns, and engagement measurement on integrated interactive channels. The landscape now demands conversations over monologues to build trust with audiences.
