The University of Washington automated the process of translating CAD floor plans to GIS formats to improve efficiency. Previously, the manual process took over a dozen steps but the new process reduces it to fewer than three steps. UW uses Esri software including ArcGIS for Server, ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcSDE. A key challenge was resolving conflicts between CAD and GIS requirements for georeferencing. The solution uses a single world file per building to allow for automatic georeferencing during translation. Standards were also important for the automation process. The new system provides an efficient way to manage space and allows easy access and updating of floor plans and capital projects information.

Elk Hills - Supervised the QA/QC data management process. Linked the material documentation to the final client
deliverable through the final client GIS system. Project is 40 miles in length. Data delivered in a GIS deliverable and material
deliverable.
Line 300-2 - Supervised QA/QC of survey data from both field and office operations. Tracked materials and delivered a new
construction database as the deliverable for the 125 mile project. Have developed feature code libraries to be compatible
with client GIS systems. Managed a project team to complete the project within the client guidelines and cost.
Texas Express - Data management supervision to QA/QC data process the data from all phases of project survey through
the final GIS deliverable. The project is 580 miles.
NSD Project - Supervised the QA/QC data management process. Linked the material documentation to the final client
deliverable through the final client GIS system. Project is 8 miles in length. Have developed feature code libraries to be
compatible with client GIS systems. Managed a project team to complete the project within the client guidelines and cost.
Raton Project - Supervised data management of survey data through QA/QC process from the field operations to teh client
GIS system. We used a material matching process against the MTR data to fulfill the GIS requirements. Project was 120
Miles long.
NEUP Project - Supervised the QA/QC data management process. Linked the material documentation to the final client
deliverable through the final client GIS system. Database wharehousing data to be combined with all phases of the project to
complete the data records integrity deliverable and the GIS deliverable. Project is 45 miles in length. Have developed feature
code libraries to be compatible with client GIS systems. Managed a project team to complete the project within the client
guidelines and cost.
MPP Project - Supervised the QA/QC data management process. Linked the material documentation to the final client
deliverable through the final client GIS system. Project is 7 miles in length. Data delivered in a GIS deliverable to ISAT data
model and material deliverable. Have developed feature code libraries to be compatible with client GIS systems. Managed a
project team to complete the project within the client guidelines and cost.
100's of Gathering Projects - Processing survey data into CAD via an intense QA/QC process. Have overseen data
management on numerous gathering projects for Marathon Oil and other companies. Taking data from field operations to the
final GIS and materials deliverables. Managed personnel and created processes to manage projects from the beginning to
the end. Have developed feature code libraries to be compatible with client GIS systems. Managed a project team to
complete the project within the client guidelines and cost.

I have spent my time since 1999 researching and programming ways to streamline survey data processing from the
stage of collection to the stage of drawing completion; through programming feature code libraries, in Trimble
Geomatics and Inroads I have been able to make the process much more efficient and cost affective. Since the
Gulfstream project completion in 2003 I have worked as a Survey Data Technician Coordinator on countless
projects, learning new ways to take the information collected in the field and use the data for GIS tables, station and
offset reports, traverse reports, DOT reports, X-ray reports, as-built weld and pi calculations, as well as drawings,
constantly finding innovative ways to meet client demands. I have written numerous procedures to help remove the
human error in data collection, data QA/QC and data post processing.
