Gerard McLoughlin gave a presentation titled "Changing Perspectives" about trends in English language teaching. He discussed using videos and multimedia resources in the classroom to engage students and expose them to different perspectives. McLoughlin also emphasized the importance of choosing content that promotes inclusion and understanding between people from various backgrounds. He concluded by thanking the audience and expressing his hope that the talk provided a new viewpoint for educators.
This document summarizes Gerard McLoughlin's presentation at the 1st ELT Malta Conference on changing perspectives in English language teaching. The presentation discussed how teachers can help students develop more open-minded perspectives by exposing them to videos that illustrate important concepts like inclusion, disability rights, and population growth. It also provided bibliographic references for course books and video clips used in the presentation. The overall message was that exposing students to these ideas can help change their worldviews for the better.
The document is a presentation by Gerard McLoughlin given at an international conference in Barcelona in 2012. The presentation aims to change viewers' perspectives, as the title implies.
The document discusses the issues with "white feminism" and how it ignores intersectionality and creates beauty standards that favor white women. It notes that searches for the most beautiful woman usually yield white women, like Bella Hadid, and that wage gaps affect women of color more than white women. The document argues that feminism looks different to different people and that acknowledging issues with white feminist thinking aims to create more space for women of color, not silence white women. It concludes beauty, problems, and wages should not be defined as black or white.
The document discusses views expressed by members of a snooker club in Leicester, England. They say there are too many "coloureds" in the area now and believe locals are becoming a minority. They assert immigrants do not want to integrate and are given advantages. The journalist summarizes that residents feel whites are being "overrun" and losing control of "their" country.
The document discusses social issues in the Victorian era novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens and their parallels in modern-day India. It outlines how Dickens highlighted the powerlessness of children and women in Victorian society. It also examines additional social issues depicted in the novel like mob mentality, the contrast between city and country life, and class divisions. The document then summarizes similar social problems confronting India today including poverty, corruption, unemployment, illiteracy, child labor, and crimes against women. It argues that unity among India's people is needed to overcome these issues facing the nation.

3. Understanding how different people and groups think, and explaining concepts accordingly, is important for gaining acceptance of changes.

APM event hosted by the South Wales and West of England Network (SWWE Network)
Speaker: Aalok Sonawala
The SWWE Regional Network were very pleased to welcome Aalok Sonawala, Head of PMO, National Programmes, Rider Levett Bucknall on 26 February, to BAWA for our first face to face event of 2025. Aalok is a member of APMs Thames Valley Regional Network and also speaks to members of APMs PMO Interest Network, which aims to facilitate collaboration and learning, offer unbiased advice and guidance.
Tonight, Aalok planned to discuss the importance of a PMO within project-based organisations, the different types of PMO and their key elements, PMO governance and centres of excellence.
PMOs within an organisation can be centralised, hub and spoke with a central PMO with satellite PMOs globally, or embedded within projects. The appropriate structure will be determined by the specific business needs of the organisation. The PMO sits above PM delivery and the supply chain delivery teams.
