This document lists 31 forest officers who were killed in the line of duty while working to prevent forest smuggling and illegal timber transportation in India between 1982-2013. While on duty, he expired due to severe injuries caused by smugglers attack. For not releasing the seized bullock cart with teak timber, a group of extremists attacked him with arms and brutally killed him in broad day light at his official residence in Ramareddy village. While patrolling in his beat he was murdered by the timber smugglers / Extremists. Extremists shot him dead at point blank range in FRO Office Kadam, while discharging his duties. While transporting seized teak timber by bullock carts to GTD, Yellandu, the smugglers stopped the carts and brutally attacked the FBO, who succumbed to death, along with (2) other private persons helping him for transport. The smugglers brutally murdered him and his body was found in a well in Indanpally village. While he was staying in the residential quarters of Forest Beat Officer at Muthnoor, the Naxalites dragged him out and killed him by firing (3) rounds. Extremists shot him dead at point blank range in FRO Office, Kagaznagar. Forest smuggler stabbed him to death. Brutally killed by extremists for performing his legitimate duties. Unknown smugglers assaulted at Gullakota X roads near Donabanda village and he succumbed to death due to serious injuries. While bringing the arrested smuggler to the Court, the smugglers attacked and axed all the (3) ABOs to death. The extremists shot him dead in Forest Office, Bairluty while discharging his duties. Unknown smugglers brutally murdered him on Chennur Neelvai Forest road, while he was patrolling the forests. While stopping illegal transport of teak timber by bullock cart he was attacked by smugglers. He expired after 15 days in the hospital. On Ugadi festival day, during the night he along with other FS party members seized a lorry with smuggled teak timber at Metpally. The smugglers attacked the forest party with swords and when the other members ran away from the scene, he single handedly tried to apprehend the smugglers and smugglers killed him with swords on the spot. He was killed by wild bear in the forest. Died in bomb blast by extremist while on duty at forest check post Eturunagaram. The bombs were kept in a tractor adjoining the forest check post and police station at Eturunagaram. Extremists shot him dead while on duty.

While chasing in a jeep for apprehending the van loaded with smuggled teak timber, the van driver hit the forest jeep which resulted in spot death of the Forest Beat Officer. Killed by wild bear in Mahanandi Forest area while patrolling the forest. Died in River Godavari while searching for smuggled teak timber kept under water. When checking a smuggling lorry another lorry hit him to death. While transporting seized teak timber to Govt. Timber Depot, died in the accident. While patrolling forests for apprehending smugglers, the multanis, who are known smugglers, brutally attacked him and left him to be dead on the road side. He was hospitalized and succumbed to injuries in hospital in Hyderabad after (15) days. While performing his legitimate duties in Sanjeevaraopet RF in Narayankhed Range he was brutally murdered by forest smugglers. While performing his regular duties at Muthyampadu beat and patrolling in the Lingapur Revu on 29.3.2011 at 10.30 PM he was attacked by smugglers and he died on the spot. While chasing the vehicle carrying Red sanders by suspected smugglers he was brutally killed by them. On receipt of information about the timber smuggling activity near Regulapadu Village on the bank of river Shabari, Sri. B.Somaiah, Assistant Beat Officer, Kuturu Beat of Kunavaram Range and a private person assisting the Assistant Beat Officer, reached Regulapadu Village at 11.00 P.M. on 09.11.2012, tried to stop and catch the timber smugglers, nearly 9 timber smugglers attacked with sticks and ropes. Thus, the Assistant Beat Officer and his assistant were severely wounded in the attack. While undergoing treatment over a month for the injuries caused during the brutal attack the ABO has expired at Vijayawada. On receipt of information at 11.30 pm the FRO along with the staff went to seize the tractors involved in the illegal cultivation and encroachment of 20 Ha. forest land, the frenzied mob of Nallavelli Village, Darpalli Mandal, Indalwai Range, Kamareddy Division, Nizamabad District damaged the Jeep and attacked the Range Officer and his team with chilli powder, sticks, sickles and axes killing him brutally on the spot.
