Local search is becoming increasingly important, with at least 20% of searches being local in nature. Google has several local advertising tools to help businesses boost their presence, including location extensions and click-to-call ads on mobile. However, rivals like TripAdvisor and CityGrid Media claim that Google's moves are hurting traffic to their own local listing and review sites. There is also tension between Google and these local information competitors over how local search results and reviews are ranked.

It provides statistics showing that over 60% of small businesses do not have a mobile search strategy, while 84% of those with a mobile presence see increased new business.
