KaMele Sanchez shadowed local business leader Richard Ha on Job Shadow Day, visiting various farms and labs to learn about sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, and taro blight research. She found the discussions about real problems and solutions fascinating. Other Big Island youth shadowed professionals in veterinary medicine, renewable energy, pharmacy, and the state legislature to explore potential careers. The event was organized by the Sustainable Hawaii Youth Leadership Initiative to expose youth to career paths and encourage them to remain in Hawaii to effect positive change.
