To empower Hispanics in New Jersey by facilitating civic engagement, leadership, inclusion, education and participation while promoting respect, multicultural and diversity understanding.

Scholarship Fund Criteria
Purpose: The Hispanic Leadership Association of New Jersey (HLA) awards scholarships to college-
bound high school seniors.
Prospective recipients are awarded based on their demonstrated academic achievement, financial need,
and an expressed interest in pursuing higher education.
Criteria: The students eligible for assistance must be of Hispanic heritage, graduating high school,
residing in the State of New Jersey and intending to continue their education.
Students must meet the following qualifications:
1) Graduated from a New Jersey-based high school with a minimum 2.7-grade point average
2) Be of Hispanic heritage
3) Accepted and attending a University or College
4) Provide copies of their transcripts
5) Provide two letters of recommendation
6) Submit a Written Essay (Students should include their contact information, name, address, e-mail
address and phone number with the Essay).
Guidelines: Scholarships will be awarded during the Annual Leadership Gala & Summit typically held
in the Fall. Awards will be distributed in two equal payments during the months of January and May.
Students will be required to submit their college transcript at the end of the Spring Semester in order to
receive the second scholarship payment. Students are expected to attend classes and maintain no lower
than a 2.7 grade-point average (or equivalent).
Amount: The HLA will grant up to three (3) scholarship awards. Each scholarship award will be a
minimum of $500.00 to be paid in two equal installments, as noted above.
Deadline: The application deadline is August 6, 2021. Note: No applications will be accepted after this
date. Applications shall be mailed to rdequinzio@hotmail.com, with the Subject line: HLA
Scholarship Committee.
Renewal Process: This scholarship fund is not renewable. Only high school seniors are eligible to apply.
Previous scholarship recipients cannot apply.
Committee Review Process: The Scholarship Committee will review all applicants and make
recommendations to the HLA Board of Trustees.
Award Announcement: Scholarship awardees will be informed via e-mail by September 15, 2021.
Note: To remain eligible the award recipients are required to participate in the Student Workshop on
Saturday, October 23, 2021.

2. Scholarship Fund Criteria Purpose: The Hispanic Leadership Association of New Jersey (HLA) awards scholarships to college- bound high school seniors. Prospective recipients are awarded based on their demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and an expressed interest in pursuing higher education. Criteria: The students eligible for assistance must be of Hispanic heritage, graduating high school, residing in the State of New Jersey and intending to continue their education. Students must meet the following qualifications: 1) Graduated from a New Jersey-based high school with a minimum 2.7-grade point average 2) Be of Hispanic heritage 3) Accepted and attending a University or College 4) Provide copies of their transcripts 5) Provide two letters of recommendation 6) Submit a Written Essay (Students should include their contact information, name, address, e-mail address and phone number with the Essay). Guidelines: Scholarships will be awarded during the Annual Leadership Gala & Summit typically held in the Fall. Awards will be distributed in two equal payments during the months of January and May. Students will be required to submit their college transcript at the end of the Spring Semester in order to receive the second scholarship payment. Students are expected to attend classes and maintain no lower than a 2.7 grade-point average (or equivalent). Amount: The HLA will grant up to three (3) scholarship awards. Each scholarship award will be a minimum of $500.00 to be paid in two equal installments, as noted above. Deadline: The application deadline is August 6, 2021. Note: No applications will be accepted after this date. Applications shall be mailed to rdequinzio@hotmail.com, with the Subject line: HLA Scholarship Committee. Renewal Process: This scholarship fund is not renewable. Only high school seniors are eligible to apply. Previous scholarship recipients cannot apply. Committee Review Process: The Scholarship Committee will review all applicants and make recommendations to the HLA Board of Trustees. Award Announcement: Scholarship awardees will be informed via e-mail by September 15, 2021.
