The document summarizes the changes made to Google Images in July 2010. It describes the new interface which includes 3 main sections: the search bar, search options, and search results. The search results section now shows larger thumbnails that instantly load more images as the user scrolls, rather than switching pages. Clicking an image opens it in an overlay on the original webpage. While some criticized the changes, the new format aims to make image searching easier.
The document summarizes the creation of a website for a cafe called Cyberia Caf辿. It describes how the original design was created in Photoshop using slices to separate elements. The menu was then created by importing layers from Photoshop and adding text and images. Recipe pages were similarly designed using imported images and dummy text. Links between pages were created using image rollover instead of flash buttons which did not work as expected. A banner at the bottom of the page was created in flash using a moving logo image without flashy colors.

The Future of Repair: Transparent and Incremental by Botond DenesScyllaDB

Regularly run repairs are essential to keep clusters healthy, yet having a good repair schedule is more challenging than it should be. Repairs often take a long time, preventing running them often. This has an impact on data consistency and also limits the usefulness of the new repair based tombstone garbage collection. Developer Experience is Dead! Long Live Developer Experience!
In this keynote-style session, well take a detailed, granular look at the barriers to productivity developers face today and modern approaches for removing them. 10x developers may be a myth, but 10x organizations are very real, as proven by the influential study performed in the 1980s, The Coding War Games.
Right now, here in early 2025, we seem to be experiencing YAPP (Yet Another Productivity Philosophy), and that philosophy is converging on developer experience. It seems that with every new method, we invent to deliver products, whether physical or virtual, we reinvent productivity philosophies to go alongside them.
But which of these approaches works? DORA? SPACE? DevEx? What should we invest in and create urgency behind today so we dont have the same discussion again in a decade?

World Information Architecture Day 2025 - UX at a CrossroadsJoshua Randall

User Experience stands at a crossroads: will we live up to our potential to design a better world? or will we be co-opted by product management or another business buzzword?
Looking backwards, this talk will show how UX has repeatedly failed to create a better world, drawing on industry data from Nielsen Norman Group, Baymard, MeasuringU, WebAIM, and others.
Looking forwards, this talk will argue that UX must resist hype, say no more often and collaborate less often (you read that right), and become a true profession in order to be able to design a better world.

How to Generate Thumbnail Images in Bulk
1. how to generate thumbnail images
Pictures are a massive part of the content on the Internet. A simple image search from Google
can provide hundreds of thousands of results. These images are saved as a certain size but don't
automatically translate well to a preview size. This is where the employment of thumbnails
started. Thumbnails allow for a compact version of an image to be exhibited without diminishing
quality. While this may seem a straight forward task, just reducing the size of an image will not
generate a thumbnail. Reducing the size of an image will lead to loss of resolution so the image
may seem blurry or an entire portion of the image may be lost. Either way, the resulting quality of
the image will be sub-standard and unsuitable to really display an image.
One technique of creating thumbnails involves using photo editing software. The first step is to
develop a copy of the image and then open it within the editing software. Then, apply a filter to the
image, such as a blur filter. This allows the image to be clear once it is resized. Then, crop the
image to only show the desired parts of the image. The image then must be resized to be the
suitable size of a thumbnail. Lastly, apply a sharpening filter to the image to make it clear. The
image can now be saved and used as a thumbnail.
Fortunately, a simpler and faster option exists. An easy search for Create Thumbnails from
Multiple Images' at www.hothotsoftware.com will bring up an incredible program for mass
thumbnail creation. This program permits many thumbnails to be developed from numerous
image files with just a few mouse clicks. Upon opening the program, you will see that the full
program works within a single window, alleviating any worries of getting lost or confused within
the program. The top part of the window is a field that displays any image files that you want to
convert to thumbnails. Directly below this field is a button labeled Add File(s)' which allows
images to be added to the program. There is also the ability for the software to search for files
within a specified folder. The bottom left part of the window provides information about the format
of the thumbnails being produced. There are two parameters that may be modified, one involves
the quality of the thumbnail and the other changes the size of the thumbnail. Below this is an
option to append an alternate file extension to the output thumbnail. Lastly, the bottom right of the
window has the command to begin the process. After the program begins it will convert your
images and feature a note when the program is completed.

Image resizing can be complicated without the correct software. Using the appropriate program
can shorten your production time significantly and allow you to complete more work than
imagined.
