3. EXTENSION DETAIL
Final Project - This project investigates and
devises a means to reinstate the canals original use as a
transport mechanism supporting the import trade in
London. Imported coffee will travel up the
canal from Limehouse Docks to the site and then
transferred via crane into the top floor of
building where the roasting process will take place.
Visitors are able to view and experience how the
coffee is created, from milling through to packaging.
The second part of the building extends the
experience and houses intimate private cinema screens
where visitors can enjoy a cinematic experience and also
buy the fresh made coffee from the coffee shop and take
it through to the cinema with them. Likewise, drinks
may be purchased from the new extension added on top of
the building which consists of a Bar with city views.
The current users of the canal are commuters, runners,
cyclists and students. Everyone can experience what
this building offers, a new and useful communal space.
