The experiment Im doing today is a pretty cool experiment .
Would you like to have a guess? This picture OR hints could help
you figure it out.
Hint
It bounces
Hint
It is an egg
The bouncy egg
Did you get it?
YES
NO
You will need:
 Half a cup of white
vinegar
 1 x egg
 1 x drinking glass
 1 x big bowl
 1 x measuring cup
Ingredients
1. Pour the vinegar into the glass
Tip
You SHOULD measure the vinegar because if you just
pour it in without measuring it, you could putTOO MUCH
in the glass cup.
Instructions
2. Put the egg in the vinegar
Tip
Make sure you dont drop the egg, gently drop it in OR
you WILL BREAK IT!!!!!
Instructions
3. Leave it for at least two days. Keep an eye on it,
watch how it changes.
Tip
You dont need to look at it for the whole two days you
can just look at it ONCE OR TWICE A DAY.
Instructions
4. After two days, take it out.The shell will have
dissolved. You can carefully, gently bounce it from a
low height.
Tip
Use a large tub to bounce it in because it could break and
squirt everywhere.
Instruction
Day 1
Day 2
The shell of the egg is made mostly of calcium
carbonate (like chalk).Vinegar dissolves the
calcium in the shell. The gas that is created as
a side effect causes the bubbles that will rise
from the egg.Vinegar has, among other things, a chemical
material called Acetic Acid (Vinegar bottles contain approximately
about 15% of acetic acid). Calcium carbonate in the eggshell reacts
with vinegar to form carbon dioxide (can be seen as bubbles in the
cup of the egg/ vinegar).
OBSERVATION
Carbonate.
You might have noticed the egg got a little bit
bigger after soaking in the vinegar.
Some of the water in the vinegar solution
(remember household vinegar is 96% water)
Travelled through the egg s membrane in an effort
to equalize the concentration of
water on both sides of the membrane. This flow of
water through a semi-permeable
membrane is called osmosis
Well the shell of an egg is made of calcium carbonate.
When you place the egg into the vinegar, you see
bubbles, which is the chemical reaction of the acid in the
vinegar reacting with the calcium carbonate to produce
carbon dioxide.
How the bouncy egg works
make sure you put it in a DARK place !!!!!!
1. How many steps are there?
_______4____________________
2. What's the experiment?
__________bouncy egg________________
3. Whats the tip for instruction four?
___________use a container or bowl________________________
Quizzes
Any questions
????????
Thank you for listening.
