This document discusses different lighting techniques: Backlighting uses lights positioned behind a subject to create silhouettes. Low-key lighting uses minimal lighting to create shadows and heighten a sense of alienation. Under-lighting positions a single light underneath a subject, often used to create a tense atmosphere in horror genres. Top lighting secures one or more lights above a subject to eliminate shadows from key lighting and simulate a sunny environment. For each technique, the document addresses number of lights used, their positioning, and important safety considerations.
