The Creative Partnerships project in Lithuania aims to develop creativity in students and teachers in over 100 schools over 3 years from 2011-2015. The project is funded by the European Social Fund and involves around 200 creators, over 1000 teachers, and 4000 students. It seeks to develop student creativity, inspire learning, and foster a creative approach in schools. Schools participating in the project report that students are more engaged in learning, confident to make mistakes, and comfortable expressing themselves. Teachers also learn new teaching methods and ways to strengthen school community relationships. The project brings creative practitioners into schools to collaborate with teachers and students on activities to spark interest and make learning more inclusive.

How to Deploy & Support a Universal Design for Learning Strategy w/TTS Technology within D2L's Learning Environment. Readspeaker with Michal Hughes. St. Catharines, Ontario. November 18, 2016.
This document provides an introduction to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) including its origins, definitions, and applications. It discusses how UDL evolved from Universal Design principles to make education more inclusive and accessible for all learners. The key points are:
- UDL originated from Universal Design which aims to consider the broadest range of users from the beginning.
- UDL is an educational framework drawing on brain research and new technologies to meet the needs of diverse learners through multiple means of representation, engagement, and action and expression.
- Digital technologies and media provide more flexible ways to present information that can accommodate differences in how learners perceive and comprehend.
- UDL applies to all aspects
The Knowledge Integration program at the University of Waterloo allows students to integrate interests from different disciplines. Students take core courses that teach integration skills and how to collaborate. They also take a variety of electives to gain depth in their areas of interest and do a final research project in their fourth year. The program is flexible and supports students through academic advisors, professors, and the Knowledge Integration Student Society. Students participate in experiential learning opportunities like designing a museum exhibit and have pursued careers and further education in diverse fields after graduating.
Social Media for Academicians The Trend is Beginning by Ravindra DastikopechoVme

This document discusses how social media can enable education by overcoming traditional barriers. It outlines how social media allows education to eliminate distance barriers by connecting students and teachers anywhere. Social media also helps overcome language barriers by allowing educational content to be shared in multiple languages. Finally, social media helps overcome time barriers by making educational content accessible anytime through platforms like blogs, Facebook pages, and online discussion forums. Examples from the author's own teaching experience illustrate how various social media tools can enhance education.
Unit 10. The 21st century teacher and learner.pptxTanzeelaBashir1
油
The document discusses the skills and characteristics needed for 21st century teachers and learners. It identifies several key skills for both teachers and learners, including critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, technology literacy, flexibility and adaptability. 21st century teachers must adapt instruction, be lifelong learners, communicate effectively using technology, lead by example, and take risks. They should develop these skills in students by focusing on questions rather than answers, connecting learning to the real world, and using collaborative and inquiry-based learning approaches.
The document discusses a conference on inclusion and universal design for learning (UDL) in innovative learning spaces that foster global citizenship. It addresses how education must adapt to an uncertain world where linear learning models no longer apply and people feel alienated. UDL aims to create barrier-free learning environments through equitable design, flexibility, perceptible information and other principles. The conference will discuss topics like shaping inclusive discourse, using technology to imagine greater access, responding to change through flexibility and digital learning, and applying UDL best practices through a network. It concludes that education is at a crossroads and must focus on skills, mobility, innovation and transnational leadership through vision and risk-taking to meet community needs in a globalized world.

The New Openness Movement: Unpacking the Hype from the HopeMark Brown
油
Professor Mark Brown discusses the new openness movement in education in a presentation. He notes there is confusion around what openness means as terms like open access, open source and open learning are often used interchangeably. Brown argues openness is changing lives, scholarship, teaching and educational institutions. While openness offers opportunities, it also poses challenges and costs. Different interest groups advocate openness but for different and sometimes competing reasons relating to knowledge societies, economies, education reform, and technology. Brown concludes by questioning who is defining openness, what story they are telling, and what alternative stories are missing from the dominant narrative.
