This document outlines a research project aimed at understanding the characteristics and outcomes of patients utilizing psychiatric emergency services (PES) across three Los Angeles County hospitals. It aims to identify demographic trends, discharge versus admission predictors, and long-term outcomes for high-acuity patients, with a focus on addressing disparities among underserved communities. The project involves collaboration between county departments and UCLA, highlighting the importance of stakeholder engagement and data-sharing to improve care quality and reduce costs.
