Presenting A TED Talk
Evaluation Presentation for
Public Speaking Online
This woman is Jane McGonical
and she has the amazing idea
to use gamers and gaming to
help better the world. She is
world renowned video game
designer, who makes games
that better the quality of life
through the same positive
influences that we find in any
other video games.
My goal for the next decade is
to try to make it as easy to save
the world in real life as it is the
save the world in online gaming
-Jane McGonical
This is the quote she led with
after introducing herself to
captivate the audience.
Its such an extreme idea
that just shocks the
Intrigues you into
Wanting to hear more. She
Goes on to say
Now I have a plan for this
She continues to maintain
the attention of the
attention by relaying her
plan to the audience. As
she shows the audience
her current successs and
her future ideas the
audience can now see that
her idea is obtainable. She
has games that she has
made that has scientific
proof that it has directly
bettered the game players
life and helped better the
world.
The TED Commandment I think
Jane follows the best is:
Thou Shalt Dream a Great
Dream, Show Forth a
Wondrous New Thing, Or Share
Something Thou Hast Never
Shared Before.

I mean her dream is to change
the world using video games
and gamers. Most would find
this idea ludicrous but she
continues to prove it day in and
day out with the games she
makes.
Her Dynamism score from
me is a 5/5 hands down.
The only thing I think she
could possibly done better
is get the audience more
involved make them play a
game to demonstrate how
it does work. In one of her
other speeches she does
do this but its definitely
something I think she
should add to her speeches
about games changing the
world.
In her presentation one tip I
think from Gar Reynolds is
her slide show presentation
maintaining the same
theme. Through out the
whole speech it was all
about proving the her idea
was obtainable and true.
The biggest things I
learned about
delivering a speech
from Jane is that if you
have an idea worth
sharing and you are
passionate about it
sharing your idea with
the world, The
meaning will inspire
and people will listen
rather than just sit
there bored by your
speech.
When comparing Jane
McGonical to Sir Ken
Robison I would have
to say a few things:
both people have an
amazing drive to
dramatically change
the world as we know
it.
Both speakers are
horribly passionate
about there subject and
for good reason.
Both are trying to
change the world
One similarity I found really
interesting was that they are
both trying to better the world
through rechanneling people to
to do great things with the
abilities that you have. Ken is
trying to do it by doing a
complete overhaul of the
education system.
Jane does it by making
interesting games that
encourage gamers to
better themselves,
collaborate ideas and
better the world
through games.
A few tips I can give
based off these two
amazing TED Talks is be
passionate and make
sure you have facts to
back up your way of
thinking.
