Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldartsThe realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNowMental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartworkCreative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Skeleton Culture CodeSkeleton TechnologiesOrganizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

k výraznému nárastu počtu obyvate-ľov
osady. Tým vznikol akútny problém
riešenia zlepšenia životných podmienok
obyvateľov osady. Bolo potrebné riešiť
aj viaceré problémy spojené s chudobou.
Koncentrácia Rómov v jednej lokalite
zmiešala obyvateľov, ktorí mali relatívne
slušný ekonomický a sociálny status s oby-vateľmi
s nižším statusom. Výsledkom bol
pokles životnej úrovne a nárast rôznych
patologických javov.
Aj preto sa mesto Humenné zapojilo do
projektu terénnej sociálnej práce. Pôsobia
tu 2 terénni sociálni pracovníci a 4 asisten-ti
a vedeli vyriešiť svoj problém. No sú tiež
jedinci, tých je žiaľ viac, ktorí potrebujú
posúvať stále. Nevedia sa sami naštar-tovať,“
hovorí terény sociálny pracovník
z Podskalky, Vladimír Šintala.
Terénni sociálni pracovníci majú svoje
pracovné miesto priamo v osade. Jedno-duchá
unimobunka so široko otvorenými
prácou do Anglicka, kde ich tá škola vie
(van)
v roku 2012, kedy mesto prevzalo pozemky
pod cintorínom a taktiež prístupovú cestu
do svojej správy.
svoj k svojmu. Naši Rómovia tak dodržia-vajú
tradíciu, že každý ku svojmu. Len Ró-movia
tu ležia. Ale naši starí Rómovia tvr-dia,
že tu bol pochovaný aj jeden Neróm,
ešte za čias prvého slovenského štátu. Cin-torín,
to je naša história a história nemôže
vyzerať takto ako vyzerá dnes.
Pokiaľ by sa niekto opýtal, či tento
cintorín je segregácia, nesúhlasil by som
s tým. Nemôžeme to nazvať segregáciou,
to si urobili samotní naši Rómovia, ktorí
tu dávno pred nami žili. To je ich. Dodnes
sa tu pochovávajú naši ľudia odtiaľto.
V meste už z Rómov skoro nikto nebý-va,
všetci sú tu. Kto zomrie, či mladý, či
starý, oni chcú len tu byť pochovaní. Máme
tu takých dobrovoľníkov, ktorí, ak niekto
zomrie, radi pomôžu. Prídu, vykopú hrob,
donesú nebožtíka, všetko urobia. My na to
Roma Podskalka. (van)

PODSKALKA OČAMI RADNICE…
„V osade Podskalka žijú prevažne neza-mestnaní
občania, avšak poslednú dobu aj
formou aktivačných prác alebo zamestna-ní
v technických službách mesta Humenné
sa snažíme poskytnúť týmto ľuďom prácu.
Určite tomu napomohli aj terénni sociálni
pracovníci, ktorí sa nachádzajú na Pod-skalke
takže v tomto smere si myslím, že
mesto Humenné stojí v tejto otázke veľmi
dobre,“ uviedla Michaela Slivková Kirňa-ková
z tlačového odboru mesta Humenné.
„V súčasnosti sa realizuje výstavba
domu modlitby. Rozhodli sme sa pre vý-stavbu
preto, že niečo také v osade chýbalo
a jednoducho aj tí pozostalí sa potrebu-jú
niekde pomodliť za svojich nebohých,
takže preto Dom modlitby. Opravil sa
tam most cez riečku smerom k cintorínu
a samozrejme mesto má v pláne postupne
opraviť chodník a taktiež aj futbalové ih-risko,
ktoré sa nachádza na Podskalke,“
dodáva Michaela Slivková Kirňaková.
V roku 2011 predalo mesto byty posta-vené
z eurofondov po 10 rokoch nájomcom
za symbolickú cenu. Tým, že si Rómovia
odkúpili tieto byty a stali sa ich vlastníkmi,
zobrali bremeno údržby na seba a začali
riešiť všetky náležitosti týkajúce sa bytov.
Začali sa samostatne učiť fungovať bez
nejakej cudzej pomoci. V oblasti bývania
mesto bude realizovať aj projekt, v rámci
ktorého si tri rómske rodiny svojpomocne
postavia domy. (van)
ZO ŽIVOTA APOŠTOLSKEJ CIRKVI
Pastor Apoštolskej cirkvi Igor Maľar pôso-bí
na Podskalke dlho. Tvrdí, že poznanie
Boha Podskalku zmenilo. „Odkedy sme
tu začali robiť Božie dielo, začali sme tu
hovoriť Božie slovo, evanjelium, prišlo tu
prebudenie. Veľa ľudí toto zasiahlo, zme-nilo.
Klesla kriminalita. Dnes sú možno
štyria vo väzení z 2 500 Rómov,“ opisu-je
situáciu Maľár. Predtým to bolo podľa
a bitky,“ hovorí Maľár o premenách
komunity.
v komunite. „Ťažoba je veľká na Rómov.
Snažíme sa ísť Božou cestou, vyjsť im
v ústrety, pomáhať jeden druhému ako
sme len schopní. Ale nie je to ľahké, lebo
viete, Rómovia žijú z dávok, niekedy im
vystanú peniaze inokedy nie. Preto robíme
zbierky na jedlo pre tých, ktorí nemajú. Je
nás okolo stovky bratov a sestier a môžem
povedať, že zbor v tomto pomáha, aby ne-hladovali,
ale aby mali to, čo má mať každý
človek,“ zdôrazňuje Maľár. Lebo evanjeli-zácia
ide ruka v ruke s charitou.
„To, čo ma drží pri tom, aby som vytr-val,
je, že som spoznal Boha. Spoznal som
Slovo a bolo mi ťažko opustiť tých ľudí, čo
a dávame svedectvá, pretože Boh povedal:
choďte a dávajte svedectvá o tom, čo sa
vám stalo. S Vierou prišla zmena. Týka sa
to veľa rodín.
dnes. Dnes si muž so ženou spolu sedia,
pijú kávu a hovoria, že prečo skôr nespo-znali
Boha, prečo tá zmena neprišla skôr,“
vysvetľuje pastor.
Aj keď pastorácia funguje na Podskalke
už viac rokov, na svoje stretnutia nema-jú
žiadny priestor. V budúcnosti by pre-to
chceli postaviť komunitné pastoračné
centrum. Majú už aj projektovú dokumen-táciu.
Jediné, čo im ešte chýba, sú penia-ze.
Na otázku, odkiaľ ich zoberú, pastor
Maľar odpovedá: Boh to vyrieši, Boh nájde
zdroje.
„Je dôležité, aby ľudia neodchádzali
a nevracali sa späť do sveta, v ktorom žili,
ale aby prichádzali k Bohu, pretože Boh
ich zmenil, nie ja som ich zmenil. A to je
tá milosť. Prišiel čas, kedy ľudia hľadajú
Boha. Dnes už vieme, že čo si vezmeme do
svojho života, to budeme žiť. Ak si vezme-me
do života dobré veci, budeme žiť tieto
dobré veci. To znamená, že nemôžem byť
vždy chudobný, keď môj otec je hore v nebi
bohatý…“ dodáva Maľar. (r)
BOH ICH ZMENIL, NIE JA
„Rodičia začali podnikať, my deti im
v tom na Podskalke pomáhame. Videli sme
talent a chcú niečo robiť. Dostal som takú
myšlienku, aby sme urobili niečo oficiálne,
nie len občas jednorázovo. Môj otec mal
podklady k združeniu, dal som to do po-riadku,
poplatil som všetko čo bolo treba,
aby sme boli oficiálne zaregistrovaní. Tak
sme založili naše občianske združenie,“
hovorí Peter Kudráč. Ako zdôrazňuje, naj-prv
boli aktivity až potom oficiálne veci.
Deti, ako zdôrazňuje, prichádzali postup-ne,
tak, ako ich to zaujímalo.
„Keď sme s nimi prvýkrát začali na-cvičovať,
tak sa detičky hanbili, dievčatá
sa hanbili. Ale keď sme začali nacvičovať
štyri dni v týždni a dostali sme potom po-nuku
Teraz
sa situácia zmenila. Už nepotrebujú tlačiť
do skúšania, samé už idú do toho. Je treba
len ich tu udržať a venovať sa im, aby touto
cestou išli ďalej a bude dobre,“ zdôrazňuje.
Ho-voria
mi: aj ja chcem ujo, aj mňa zoberie-te?“
opisuje záujem detí o prácu v zdru-žení
Peter. Hoci sa zdá, že je to len hra,
považuje takéto aktivity s deťmi za veľmi
dôležité. „Žijeme v modernej dobe, žijeme
v 21. storočí a vidíte, aký je svet. Všade
vidíte, že je veľa kriminality, drogy, krá-deže.
Poukazujú iba na Rómov, všade nás
len kritizujú. Aj našu tradíciu. A to nie je
dobré. My chceme ukázať bielym, že nie
Podporuje
Nezanechaj-me
našu rómsku kultúru, lebo to je naše,
to nám nikto nemôže zobrať.“
