The document discusses examples of new forms of urban and peri-urban agriculture in Italy and France that provide environmental education and social benefits. These include social agriculture projects near Paris that employ disabled people and former prisoners to grow and sell herbs and vegetables. Another project in Milan involves prisoners gaining job skills by growing plants in a greenhouse for reforestation. An agricultural park in Brianza combines conservation with education and recreation. The challenges faced include reliance on public funding and development pressures on surrounding land.
1) The internet makes it easy for predators to locate potential victims through chat rooms, discussion groups, blogs, email, and instant messaging. Predators use a child's online interests to persuade them that they have found someone with similar interests or problems.
2) To stay safe online, control access to chat rooms and discussion boards, monitor instant messaging, keep screen names free of personal information, and place computers in common areas. Also avoid online profiles, monitor camera and webcam use, and check conversations.
3) If being threatened or harassed online, contact authorities like a school resource officer, internet service provider, or Cybertipline for help.
Greenpeace is an environmental organization founded in 1971 with over 5 million members worldwide. State and local governments have a legal responsibility to communicate openly with citizens through new media, but often lack efforts to connect citizens with institutions, have inconsistent designs between agencies, illogical hierarchies, poor data management, and face voter apathy towards state and local government. These issues present problem areas that governments need to address to improve transparency and civic engagement.
The euroFOT project aims to perform large-scale field operational tests of intelligent vehicle systems with ordinary drivers on public roads. It will investigate the performance, driver behavior, user acceptance, and impacts on safety, efficiency, and the environment of several advanced driver assistance systems. The euroFOT consortium involves 28 partners from across Europe conducting tests with over 150 commercial vehicles and 690 passenger cars, collecting over 18.5 million kilometers of real-world driving data. Key systems under investigation include forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning.

This presentation covers the basics of how users of screen readers interact with widgets. The goals of this presentation are:
1) Make you comfortable enough with using screen readers so that you have a basic understanding of the types of information users need/expect to hear for widgets.
2) Make you familiar with the common keyboard patterns used for existing widgets on the web and the desktop.
Use the information in this presentation as a foundation for implementing expected keyboard shortcuts for custom widgets as well as for learning how test custom widgets you develop for the web using JavaScript.
The document discusses the evolution of HR transformation in healthcare. It outlines challenges faced such as change, decision making delays, and complex structures. It argues HR must shift from administrative tasks to strategic roles like strategic partner and change partner. This involves developing a human capital strategy aligned with organizational goals and helping facilitate change. The HR function needs analysis and prioritization through an "HR scan" to identify opportunities and a phased transformation approach to optimize processes and support the organization's objectives.
This document provides an introduction to multi-objective optimization using evolutionary algorithms. It discusses how evolutionary algorithms are well-suited for multi-objective optimization problems as they use a population approach to find multiple non-dominated solutions simultaneously. The document outlines the basic principles of evolutionary optimization for single-objective problems and then describes the key concepts and operating principles of evolutionary multi-objective optimization.

This document summarizes key points from the Indonesian E-Tourism Summit 2011 regarding travel distributions and payments. It notes that providing more payment options can increase sales conversion by 22% and that different customers prefer different payment forms. It also discusses common problems travel merchants face with payment strategies, including a lack of strategy, time-consuming manual tracking, long times to revenue, tight cash flow, and accounting headaches. The document highlights benefits of social marketing and trends in mobile internet and smartphones driving new records in the travel industry.
The document discusses the next steps for automatic vehicles. It raises questions about what the next stage of development should be for self-driving cars. Further progress is needed to make autonomous vehicles safer and more reliable before widespread adoption.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise stimulates the production of endorphins in the brain which elevate mood and reduce stress levels.

This document contains code for a Jenkins pipeline that defines stages for compiling, testing, packaging, deploying, and smoke testing a build. It also contains code to send notifications to Typetalk if the build fails. Additional code shows how to fetch pull request branches from a Git remote and check if a pull request is open for a given branch.
Continuous integration is a software engineering practice where developers frequently integrate code changes into a central repository. It aims to improve quality and reduce delivery time by implementing quality control checks at small increments rather than after all development is complete. Continuous integration tools like Jenkins can be configured through scripts to continuously build projects and send email notifications on failures to improve feedback loops.
IoT Devices Compliant with JC-STAR Using Linux as a Container OSTomohiro Saneyoshi
?
Security requirements for IoT devices are becoming more defined, as seen with the EU Cyber Resilience Act and Japan’s JC-STAR.
It's common for IoT devices to run Linux as their operating system. However, adopting general-purpose Linux distributions like Ubuntu or Debian, or Yocto-based Linux, presents certain difficulties. This article outlines those difficulties.
It also, it highlights the security benefits of using a Linux-based container OS and explains how to adopt it with JC-STAR, using the "Armadillo Base OS" as an example.
