Il 12 febbraio 2010, a Roma, il Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri Berlusconi ed il Primo Ministro Berisha hanno firmato la Dichiarazione congiunta di Partenariato strategico.
I ministri degli Esteri dItalia e Albania Franco Frattini e Ilir Meta hanno firmato il nuovo protocollo triennale di cooperazione 2010-2012 che prevede attivit a favore delle piccole e medie imprese (Pmi), dellagricoltura e delle politiche sociali per un controvalore di 51 milioni di euro (28 milioni a credito daiuto, 3 a dono e 20 come conversione del debito).
In questa cornice di scambi bilaterali si inserisce listituzione del Forum dellAmicizia tra le societ civili italiana e albanese che prende avvio dallincontro preliminare di Tirana del 11 giugno 2010, quale strumento di dialogo per rafforzare i rapporti tra le due sponde delladriatico anche attraverso lo sviluppo di nuove iniziative comuni.
Il Forum intende:
favorire la riflessione, il dialogo e la collaborazione sul tema dello sviluppo sostenibile;
favorire la conoscenza reciproca dei due paesi dal punto di vista culturale, economico, produttivo;
facilitare e integrare i rapporti in unorganizzazione tripartita che vede pensare e agire insieme Universit, Aziende e Istituzioni;
individuare i settori fertili nellottica di uno scambio di conoscenza e buone prassi tra Italia e Albania;
