With a background in projects spanning more than 40 years, Tim Lyons specialised in the delivery of large, complex, multi-disciplinary programmes for clients including Crossrail, Network Rail, ExxonMobil, Siemens and in patent development. His first career was in broadcasting, where he designed and built commercial radio station studios in Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol, also working as a presenter and programme producer. - 2. Mise en scene The use of the black cloaks shows the viewer that the group of people in this scene would probably be the antagonist. It shows a clear view of what the genre of the film would be. As they’ve got their heads covered it shows that they don’t want to be identified. Because they are in the graveyard it would be more anonymous than being in a city and therefore shows that they don’t want anyone to know that they’re there and could also show that they’re planning or have attacked somebody.
- 3. Extreme long shot The use of this extreme long shot is to show the viewers that the area this film is set in is almost desert and so there won’t be many to come to the aid of the protagonists.
- 4. Long shot The long shot of the main protagonist running through the trees in her running clothes shows that she is alone in a derelict piece of land shows that she is vulnerable. The fact that she has a jumper on could show that it is close to, or is winter.
- 5. Medium shot The medium shot here shows the area which one of the protagonists is situated. The fact that he is sitting down could show that he is vulnerable.
- 6. Close up The close up of the one of one of the protagonists on his phone whilst driving could show that he is about to get into an accident. Because of the close up on his face we can see his emotions and he seems to be anxious which could distract him and back up the fact that he may get into a car accident.
- 7. Low angle shot The low angle shot of one of the antagonists who was in a black cape shows that he is powerful and important. It shows that he would be stronger than the protagonists.
- 8. Cut shot The cut between the cloaked figures in the graveyard to one of the cloaked figures in a school shows that he could be looking for something or someone. This could also symbolise that he is the main antagonist.
- 9. Pan shot The pan in the extreme long shot gives the viewer a better idea of how deserted the area is in which the movie is set. This gives them a better idea of the trouble the protagonists would be in if they got into serious danger.
- 10. Track shot The track shot follows the protagonist on her run through the forest. It shows the viewers that there is nobody near her that could come to her aid if she is attacked.
- 11. From researching the use of micro elements in films I have learnt about the different ways to use some of the camera / camera angle shots. This will help me in filming my film opening because I now have a better understanding of the use of micro elements and where to use them. This will allow me to make my opening seem more like a horror film as I will know where and when to use the different angle to make the antagonist seem bigger and stronger than the protagonist.
