The researchers found that mRNA and protein levels of BMP-2, BMPRIB, and BMPRII were significantly lower in ovarian cancer tissue compared to benign ovarian tumors or normal tissue, but BMPRIA levels did not differ. Lower expression of these proteins was associated with poorer five-year survival rates in ovarian cancer patients.
