We have five senses and each sense has an organ.
OUR SENSES
THE SENSE OF SIGHT.
. The organs of sight are the eyes.
.We use our eyes to identify colour, shape, size and distance.
. Our eyes are very delicate and are protected by the eyebrows,
eyelashes and eyelids. These stop sweat and dust getting in our
eyes.
. The pupil is black but the iris can be different colours.
. The organs of hearing are the ears.
. We use our ears to identify loud and quiet sounds.
. Our ears have three parts: the outer ear, the middle ear and
the inner ear.
. Our ears are very delicate. Earwax is a sticky substance inside
our ear canal. It protects our ears from dirt and infection.
THE SENSE OF HEARING.

. The organ of smell is the nose.
. We use our nose to indentify different smells.
. Air enters the nose through the nostrils.
. The olfactory nerve sends information to our brain which tells us
what we can smell.

. The organ of taste is the tongue.
. We use our tongue to identify different tastes: sweet, salty, bittter
and sour.
. Our tongue is covered in taste buds. They identify different tastes.
. Nerves send information about the different tastes to our brain.

. Our body is covered in skin.
. It is the largest organ!
. We use our skin to identify hot or cold, hard or soft,
smooth or rough.

Our senses work together with our nervous system. The nervous
system is made up of the brain, the spinal cord and the nerves.

us move and react to the environment.

  • 1. We have five senses and each sense has an organ. OUR SENSES
  • 2. THE SENSE OF SIGHT. . The organs of sight are the eyes. .We use our eyes to identify colour, shape, size and distance. . Our eyes are very delicate and are protected by the eyebrows, eyelashes and eyelids. These stop sweat and dust getting in our eyes. . The pupil is black but the iris can be different colours.
  • 3. . The organs of hearing are the ears. . We use our ears to identify loud and quiet sounds. . Our ears have three parts: the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear. .
