Dr. Todd L. Prince is an Illinois-based veterinarian with over two decades of experience. He earned a bachelors degree in animal sciences from Iowa State University and a veterinary degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Currently, Todd Prince, DVM, works at the Naperville Animal Hospital in Illinois as well as other animal care centers in the area. He is also affiliated with the Naperville Humane Society. The goal of the Naperville Humane Society (NAHS) is to promote the humane treatment of companion animals and encourage the formation of lasting human-animal bonds. NAHS engages in projects such as the Project Pawsitive Future Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT), which is carried out in conjunction with the Illinois Youth Center-Warrenville. The aim of the program is to help youth at the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice youth center at Warrenville to achieve their therapeutic goals. Under the program, two youth trainers learn about dog obedience training and later paired with a dog from NAHS that would benefit from the training. At the end of the 3-week program, the dog obtains a Canine Good Citizen certificate and is then placed up for adoption. This program offers benefits to youth who are incarcerated and the community. Participants are taught key values such as patience, dedication, and other interpersonal skills which they can apply upon their release. As young people help to transform the lives of NAHS dogs, they become happier and productive members of society.
