activities, discussion, group
work.
Main Objective
At the end of a one week period, my students will be able
to identify, describe, and create at least four different
logical fallacies with 85% accuracy. In order to do this, my
students will participate in classroom and group analysis
of speeches and ads pertaining to logical fallacies, create
a poster and image using Photoshop and PowerPoint that
shows a logical fallacy, complete an assigned WebQuest
on logcial fallacies, post in the classroom blog about
fallacies they find in advertisements or speeches, and
create a video essay using move maker to explain their
knowledge of logical fallacies.
Daily Breakdown
 Day One :
 Discussion and Introduction of Fallacies
(Slippery Slope, Hasty Generalization, Post Hoc, Begging the Claim,
Circular Argument, Either/Or, Ad Hominem, Red Herring, Straw Man)
 Assign Video Essay and WebQuest
 Day Two :
 Analysis of Speeches (YouTube, Radio, Podcasts)
 Analysis of Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
 Analysis of Advertisements (Television and
Magazine)
 Homework: Post in Blog
 Day Three :

Unit Plan Redone

  • 2. Analyze Learners General Character : Grade 11 Aged 15 to 16 20 Students- 8 Boys, 12 Girls Predominantly white Specific Entry : Discussion of Fallacies Learning Style: Hands on activities, discussion, group work.
  • 3. Main Objective At the end of a one week period, my students will be able to identify, describe, and create at least four different logical fallacies with 85% accuracy. In order to do this, my students will participate in classroom and group analysis of speeches and ads pertaining to logical fallacies, create a poster and image using Photoshop and PowerPoint that shows a logical fallacy, complete an assigned WebQuest on logcial fallacies, post in the classroom blog about fallacies they find in advertisements or speeches, and create a video essay using move maker to explain their knowledge of logical fallacies.

Daily Breakdown Day One : Discussion and Introduction of Fallacies (Slippery Slope, Hasty Generalization, Post Hoc, Begging the Claim, Circular Argument, Either/Or, Ad Hominem, Red Herring, Straw Man) Assign Video Essay and WebQuest Day Two : Analysis of Speeches (YouTube, Radio, Podcasts) Analysis of Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) Analysis of Advertisements (Television and Magazine) Homework: Post in Blog Day Three : Website on Fallacies Homework: Blog Posts Day Four : Workshop Day Five: Presentations
