The document provides an introduction to basic aerodynamic concepts and laws. It defines steady and unsteady fluid flow, and one-, two-, and three-dimensional flow. It describes properties like streamlines, pathlines, and stream tubes. It introduces the governing equations of fluid flow like continuity, momentum, and energy equations. It derives Bernoulli's equation relating pressure and velocity at different points. It also discusses concepts like stagnation pressure, rotational and irrotational flow, and the average velocity in non-uniform flows.
This document summarizes the key relationships between position, velocity, and acceleration vectors when transforming between a stationary coordinate system and a rotating coordinate system. It describes how a rotating observer would perceive motion differently compared to a stationary observer due to the rotation of their own frame of reference. The document derives equations to relate vectors in the rotating and stationary systems and account for Coriolis acceleration, centripetal acceleration, and other effects due to the rotation. It provides examples to illustrate how constant velocity motion would appear as curved motion to the rotating observer.
This document provides an overview and outline of a software engineering concepts course taught by Professor Nancy Leveson in Fall 2005. It discusses some of the challenges of software engineering and why it is a difficult problem. The objectives of the course are for students to be able to evaluate software engineering techniques critically and make informed decisions about approaches for projects based on an understanding of past successes and failures. The course will involve readings, discussion, and short assignments but no programming.
Nanotechnology refers to engineering at the molecular scale, typically 1-100 nanometers. In its original conception, it meant precisely constructing products through molecular manufacturing. While current work is simpler, the long term vision is to build complex products through mechanochemistry and molecular machine systems. Realizing this advanced nanotechnology could enable a manufacturing revolution within a decade through self-replicating nanofactories, exponentially proliferating production capabilities but also posing risks if not responsibly developed and governed.
Social media allows for communication and sharing between businesses and customers. It comes in many forms like forums, blogs, social networks, multimedia sharing, bookmarking, and microblogging. Companies use social media to market and promote their brand, get customer feedback, and build customer loyalty. Examples of successful businesses that use social media include large companies like Coca-Cola and small businesses alike.

This document summarizes the case of a 67-year-old woman presenting with chronic headache and right-sided weakness. Imaging revealed a heterogeneous mass centered in the splenium of the corpus callosum, with significant edema. The differential diagnosis includes glioblastoma, lymphoma, metastasis, demyelination, and toxoplasmosis. Histopathology found features consistent with glioblastoma such as cellular atypia, necrosis, endothelial proliferation, and GFAP positivity.
BMW expanded its product line and production capacity at its Spartanburg, South Carolina plant to capture more of the premium vehicle market. The plant's production capacity increased from 160,000 to 240,000 vehicles per year through a $750 million investment. Since starting production in 1994, the Spartanburg plant has manufactured over 1.6 million BMW vehicles. To support its organizational changes amid an evolving market, BMW implemented systems like its Value-Added Production System to streamline processes and increase productivity while maintaining quality and culture.
Molecular manufacturing (MM) aims to precisely construct complex products atom-by-atom using mechanical chemistry and robotic assembly. Theoretical studies have shown it is possible to build molecular structures like diamond lattices in this way. A small robotic device called a fabricator could use supplied chemicals to manufacture nanoscale shapes and machines. Multiple fabricators could then be combined to create a personal nanofactory (PN) capable of building human-scale products within months. Once developed, nanofactories would allow for highly efficient, low-cost production of strong, functional products across many industries using simple, parallel manufacturing processes.
