I am extremely thankful to be given the opportunity to become a member of the National
Honor Society. I feel the mission and acts of this elite club reflect my own personal beliefs. I
believe that because of this, my membership will further the impact that this organization has
created.
One of the main focuses of National Honor Society is academics. I have excelled in my
academics all throughout school. My sophomore of high school I finished with a esteemed
grade point average. To exemplify my efforts I have put forth into my education, I challenge
myself with AP and honors classes. Grades have always been very important to me because
they demonstrate the effort you put in and the knowledge that you have gained.
Not only in school do I strive to perform to my best abilities, I try to set a good example
of character and attitude. Leadership is always something that has felt natural to me. I have
been in many roles of leader from being captain of the basketball team to leading group
discussion in socratic seminars. I find joy in helping others so we can all come together and
reach our goal as a team. Leadership is not about one person deciding for all. A leader is more
of a moderator, listening and taking account of other people's opinions.
Leadership and character go hand in hand. I have demonstrated my character by joining
the peer helpers club at my school. In peer helpers, we enforce staying away from illegal and
harmful substances such as non prescription drugs and cigarettes. In peer helpers, I have
volunteered to go on the tobacco tour to the grade schools where we teach younger kids about
the dangers of tobacco. The club also helps fight bullying. Peer helpers is full of kids who just
want to help other students live their fullest lives. I have been so lucky to be surrounded by like
minded people to share ideas and build on each other's character. Similar to peer helpers, I am
also involved in freshman mentor program. FMP is a volunteer based program where
upperclassmen have the chance to help the freshmen adjust to the environment that high
school is.
All in all I show excellence in character which helps with my already outstanding
academics and leadership. Through these qualities I have been able to become part of a
volunteer community and better myself as person. I believe that joining Nation Honor Society
will not only improve myself but that I can help make a bigger difference in my community. It will
also play a pivotal role in my ability to complete and further my acedemic career. Thank you for
this opportunity.
