Zach Morgan built a horizontal axis wind turbine for his senior project. He learned that renewable energy sources like wind and solar are needed to replace fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Morgan's wind turbine produced over five volts in a 5 mph wind. While there were challenges finding the right generator motor, Morgan enjoyed the project and wants to pursue engineering in the future, such as designing more efficient wind turbines.
