Sarah Rudoy is directing a 15-minute student film called "Ouija: For the Record" based on her mother's memoir. It tells the story of a family in 1968 Arizona whose life is affected when they acquire a Ouija board. Rudoy has been studying filmmaking for three years and this will be her biggest project to date. She provides details on the story, crew, and budget of $3,500 which she aims to keep sensible through the use of student volunteers and equipment from NYU where she studies.
This document provides information about an upcoming fundraising breakfast event for Voices for Kids, a nonprofit that provides support to foster children. It announces the date, location, and sponsorship opportunities for the May 2nd breakfast. It also lists needed furniture donations for foster youth and thanks supporters for their donations over the holidays that provided meals and gifts for many families and children in need.
The document summarizes a true story about six teenagers who break into an abandoned building and decide to use a Ouija board. One boy claims he knows how to safely use the board and they begin. The spirit spells out messages, including mentioning one girl's dream to be a doctor. Suddenly, a loud bang occurs and a plank falls, blocking the exit. They panic and the spirit spells "goodbye," leaving them trapped inside.
The document discusses the Ouija board, a talking board used to contact spirits. It outlines the history of talking boards dating back to ancient times and how the modern Ouija board was invented in the late 19th century. While some view it as a game, the document asserts that spiritualists, psychologists, and scholars consider it a mediumistic tool that can be dangerous and allow contact with demons in some cases. The Bible condemns it as well.
The document provides a history of Ouija boards and discusses different theories about how they work. It describes how Ouija boards were mass produced and marketed in the late 19th century. The document also outlines the spiritualist theory that Ouija boards allow communication with spirits and the automatism theory that unconscious movements of those using the board produce the messages. It shares various superstitions and stories related to Ouija board use.
The document provides background information on the history and development of the Ouija board. It discusses how Ouija boards originated in the mid-1800s as a parlor game and how Adolphus Theodore Wagner first patented it in 1854 as a "psychograph" to read minds. It describes how the Ouija board evolved to become a means of communicating with spirits by 1861 and how Parker Brothers mass produced and marketed it as a game in the 20th century. The document warns that some believe using a Ouija board can allow demons, not spirits, to deceive and guide users in harmful ways.

This document discusses battered woman's syndrome as a legal defense. It identifies key stakeholders in the issue like women, attorneys, judges, and advocacy groups. The author chose the topic because of their own experience with domestic abuse and passion for women's rights. Their initial research was challenging due to reliance on one author, but they gained significant knowledge. The proposed solution is to allow battered woman's syndrome as a defense to benefit women and raise awareness of domestic violence issues. The author enjoyed the research paper assignment and felt it improved their writing and critical thinking skills.

2. Dear Friends,
Ive spent the last three years at film school learning about how to create a film from the first stages of writing to its completion. I
have also worked to refine my craft through interning on professional works and working on student films. This fall, for the last time
as a student, I have the opportunity to direct and produce my own legitimate work.
In November, Ill be shooting Ouija: For the Record. This fifteen-minute movie, shot on HD, chronicles the events that unfold after
the Cain family, in 1968 Arizona, buys a tattered Ouija Board and take it home only to find out that it has bigger plans for everyone
involved. Through its predictions, the board becomes a belief system for the family and they must decide whether or not to adhere to
its requests or live a life united with each other.
I want to tell this story because it is one that is very close to my heart. The script, written by Alyssa Kurtzman, is based on my
mothers memoir. Her book tells the story of her familys struggle with belief in the Ouija Board and how it affected her family and
her adolescence. While the book is close to 400 pages in length, Alyssas version of the script is only thirteen pages. Weve
attempted to take a very dense story and pack it in to a short film, which I believe we can accomplish quite successfully with the
finished product.
Im very devoted to this film and its successful production, and Id love to share this experience with you. Feel free to look through
the rest of this packet to learn more about the film and its required responsibilities. And if you have any more questions about Ouija:
For the Record or if youd like to be updated on its process at any point, feel free to email me at srudoy22@yahoo.com.
If youd like to further your involvement, Im also working hard to raise money for the film. Were all facing financial worries, but if
youd like to donate or otherwise contribute to its creation, I would be thrilled for any support. Either way, Id love for you to remain
involved in what is by far my biggest undertaking to date. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Sarah Rudoy

3. SYNOPSIS
The Cain family has never had much. So when they find a used
Ouija Board in a Goodwill store, they feel it is something
special. What they dont know is how its mysteries will affect
their lives forever.
With the first predictions of the Ouija Board comes excitement
over washing machines and other material items. Mary, the
mother of Tricia, 14 and Diana, 13 and wife to Levoy can only
think of the riches that Ouija can give her.
But when Ouija predicts something that has an immediate
effect, the Cains begin to believe in its power. It confides in
them that it is a prophet sent from God, asking of their services
and proclaiming that they are special.
It is when this happens that things begin to turn in the house.
Levoy is considered a non-believer by Ouija and Diana suspects
that Tricia is behind Ouijas plans. When the family is asked to
move halfway across the world to fulfill its prophecies, Mary
decides to leave everything in Arizona behind including her
husband.
To me, Ouija: For the Record explores a different kind of
family and how they deal with the obstacles presented to them,
or even the ones they have created for themselves.

The expected budget for Ouija: For the Record is Actors (SAG) $0

significantly reduce the potential budget, which without Wardrobe
the help of Tisch could reach $10,000. Set Decoration and Props
