In many African countries, discussing sexuality still remains a taboo, despite the increasing number of
sexual activities among college students. The study sought to find out college students attitude towards premarital sex
and the implication of guidance and counselling. It was guided by the social learning theory. Using a descriptive survey
design data was collected through personally delivered questionnaire to 452 students who were randomly selected
from middle level colleges in Nakuru County. The questionnaire was validated through piloting in one college outside
Nakuru. Reliability coefficient for questionnaire was estimated through test-retest method and Cronbachs alpha stood
at R=84. Data was analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data. Study findings indicate that 258 or 57% of the
respondents were liberal about premarital sex and viewed it as a normal act that should not attract criticism. A total of
194 or 43% were conservative and believed that it is against the norms of society and the teachings of the church.
Factors associated with premarital sex, include love, peer pressure, drug abuse and economic factors. Counselling was
seen as the best strategic to handle sex issues, but was not effective due to stigma associated with premarital sex. The
study recommended the college administrators step up strategies to supervise both the social and academic life of the

It analyzed data on 51 characteristics of bullying victimization, bullying victims, and their schools from the 2007 National Crime Victimization Survey. The study found 11 characteristics in two categories - characteristics of bullying victimization and characteristics of bullying victims - had a statistically significant association with increased reporting. However, 64% of bullying victims did not report their experiences. In many African countries, discussing sexuality still remains a taboo, despite the increasing number of
sexual activities among college students. The study sought to find out college students attitude towards premarital sex
and the implication of guidance and counselling. It was guided by the social learning theory. Using a descriptive survey
design data was collected through personally delivered questionnaire to 452 students who were randomly selected
from middle level colleges in Nakuru County. The questionnaire was validated through piloting in one college outside
Nakuru. Reliability coefficient for questionnaire was estimated through test-retest method and Cronbachs alpha stood
at R=84. Data was analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data. Study findings indicate that 258 or 57% of the
respondents were liberal about premarital sex and viewed it as a normal act that should not attract criticism. A total of
194 or 43% were conservative and believed that it is against the norms of society and the teachings of the church.
Factors associated with premarital sex, include love, peer pressure, drug abuse and economic factors. Counselling was
seen as the best strategic to handle sex issues, but was not effective due to stigma associated with premarital sex. The
study recommended the college administrators step up strategies to supervise both the social and academic life of the

This study examined characteristics associated with increased reporting of bullying incidents to school officials. It analyzed data on 51 characteristics of bullying victimization, bullying victims, and their schools from the 2007 National Crime Victimization Survey. The study found 11 characteristics in two categories - characteristics of bullying victimization and characteristics of bullying victims - had a statistically significant association with increased reporting. However, 64% of bullying victims did not report their experiences. Bullying油is a violent behavior that occurs when a person or group of people disturbs or threatens the safety and health of others both physically and psychologically, threatens one's property, reputation, or social acceptance and is carried out repeatedly and continuously (Bernard & Milne, 2008).油油On April 20, 1999, America was shocked by the first massive school shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado.油 Then there was the油shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 12, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut.油油 It seemed as though school shootings were happening more and more creating a numbness across America.油 It was these incidents that led to states drafting and passing anti-bullying laws.油 油Recognizing that this topic is still too broad; I had to narrow the focus even more.油油Bullying油has become a worldwide problem and is experienced by thousands of children every day (Carney & Marrel, 2001).油油In a study conducted by on 1,588 third through fifth graders who completed a survey regarding their perceptions of bullying in schools the key findings were that 40 % of third through fifth graders reported being bullied, while girls reported being victims of bullying more often than boys.

All children have the right to a free public school education and should be able to attend schools without the fear of being bullied or harmed; however, recent studies indicate suicide as the second leading cause of death for teens.油 It is also noted that the suicide rate for African-American children ages 5-12 is two times higher than that of Caucasian children (Christensen, 2019). To address this problem, this study will investigate leading causes of bullying among elementary students grades 2-4.油 Based on the findings, schools will be asked to lead bullying prevention seminars for faculty and staff and develop anti-bullying campaigns for student awareness.
