1) Maruta Kenjiro introduced himself as a 26-year-old graduate student who comes from a deaf sibling family. He talked about his experience growing up as a hearing sibling of deaf siblings and parents. 2) He described his family as very close-knit and supportive. However, he felt pressure as a child to take on the role of interpreter and helper for his deaf brother without considering his own feelings. 3) By meeting and talking with other children of deaf adults (CODAs), he realized that many others share similar experiences. He wants young CODAs to know they are not alone and have options to get support.
